Race Rules

RACE RULES

  • Entrants are required to abide by the Race Rules and marshals' directions.

  • Entrants for the Chippenham Half Marathon must be amateur and 17 years or older on the race day.

  • Entries to the Chippenham Half Marathon are personal to the applicant and race numbers cannot be sold or transferred unless authorised by the organisers. Any runner who competes in another person's race number that has not been officially transferred to them will be disqualified.

  • The use of headphones or earbuds (music players) whilst running in this event is NOT permitted for entrants. This is due to the race taking place on public roads and pathways, some of which will be open during the majority of the event. It is imperative that all runners are aware of their environment and can hear instructions from marshals and police. Due to these safety precautions, we will have to disqualify any runners who are found to be wearing headphones during the race. Bone conducting headphones (e.g. OpenRun Shokz), are permitted. Please inform race officials if you are using a hearing device to avoid disqualification.

  • There is a cut-off time limit for runners which is 3 hour 20 minutes (this equates to a brisk walk). We need to set a cut-off time so our volunteers and police will have time to clear the course and pack everything away. There is a short-cut, which will result in an official DNF time, but will allow entrants to complete a significant distance of the official course, in case of missing the part distance cut-off time.

  • Entrants are required to respect all local properties and other road users, including your fellow entrants. Entrants caught damaging property or littering may be disqualified from the results.

  • Unfortunately, as this is a rural race, we do not permit entrants to run with pushchairs, buggies or dogs.

  • As an entrant you agree with the terms and conditions of event entry and will not compete in this race unless you are in good health on the day of the race and that in any case you will only compete at your own risk.  You also accept that the organisers will not be liable for any loss or damage to personal items which can be left at the race HQ at your own risk.

  • Ensure that your running number is not covered at any time during the race. This will allow us to identify runners during the race for safety reasons or in case of emergency.
