There will water stations, during the race, at the Wessex Water HydroZones around the course at Stanley Lane (3 miles), Moravian Church (6 miles), Avon (8 miles), Langley Road (11.5 miles) and the runners’ village at Chippenham Cricket Club.
The course is 13.1 miles or 21.1 km, which is the official Half Marathon distance). The course has been accurately measured by an ARC accredited official.
In order to enter you must at least 17 years of age on or before the day of the race. You can find a complete list of race rules here.
For safety reasons the organisers of the Chippenham Half Marathon ask you NOT to use headphones or earbud (music players) whilst running in this event. This is due to the race taking place on public roads and pathways, some of which will be open during the majority of the event.
It is imperative that all runners are aware of their environment and can hear instructions from marshals and police.
Due to these safety precautions, we will have to disqualify any runners who are found to be wearing headphones during the race. Please inform race officials if you are using a hearing device to avoid disqualification.
Yes, male and female changing tents will be available before and after the race at the race village. There will be a Male and a Female changing tent available. You are advised to come prepared to race and use these facilities after the race. Once you've changed you will be able to leave your bag in our storage tent if you need to - see below.
Yes, you will be able to leave your bag in our storage tent while you run. Please do not leave any valuables in your bag as we cannot accept liability for anything lost or stolen.
Yes, first aid and ambulance support will be available.
The race will start on Bristol Road but you should make your way initially to the Chippenham Sports Club where you will find changing facilities, baggage storage and toilets. The pre-race briefing will take place in front of the Chippenham Sports Club pavillion after which you will be asked to line up according to your expected finish time on Bristol Road. We expect to start the race at 9:30am prompt. See our home page for the expected event timetable.
Your experience, at the start, will be enhanced be starting with runners of a similar ability. Please respect the athletes who are competing at county and/or inter-county level by giving them some space. If there are either pacers or predicted finish time markers, at the start, it is best to position yourself according to your predicted finish time on the day.
Yes, if you can no longer run and you have someone who would like to take your place, you can transfer it does incur a charge and admin fee - You can view our transfer information here.
The roads will be closed as you run through the town centre. When you leave the town to run in the country lanes there will be light traffic. We will be putting marshals at all junctions and most hidden corners. The police will be present on the busy junctions.
When you re-enter the town, a number of the roads will also be closed to traffic.
Please ensure that you follow the directions of police and marshals whilst running to ensure an enjoyable and safe event.
The chip timing and results service is being provided by DBMax. The results will be published as soon as possible and we hope to make them available here on the same day as the race. You will, typically, be able to find a link to the results on the DBMax website, the official Chippenham Half Marathon website or our facebook page.
