Race Rules

The Chippenham Half Marathon will be run under ARC (The Association of Running Clubs) rules (ARC Race Permit no: 17/247) a copy of which can be found at the ARC website or by clicking on this link.

Please note that:

  • Entrants are required to abide by the Race Rules and marshals' directions.
  • Entrants for the Chippenham Half Marathon must be amateur and 17 years or older on race date.
  • Entries to the Chippenham Half Marathon are personal to the applicant and race numbers cannot be sold or transferred unless authorised by the organisers. Any runner who competes in another person's race number that has not been officially transferred to them will be disqualified.
  • No refund can be given if you decide not to take part or if the race has to be cancelled or postponed due to circumstances outside the race organisers' control.
  • The race organisers reserve the right to refuse or cancel applications, including duplicate applications, or alter the date of the event, the course route or distance.
  • The race organisers, sponsors, charities, suppliers and/or their agents will not be liable for any injury, loss or expense which may arise in consequence of your participation in this event.
  • Entrants participate in the race at their own risk and undertake not to take part unless they are medically fit to run a half marathon and able to complete the course within 3 hours.
  • All runners are required to complete the personal, contact and health details form on the back of their race number.
  • Runners starting the race more than 10 mins after the start time will be disqualified.
  • Unfortunately the course is not suitable for wheelchairs, prams, pushchairs or other wheeled vehicles.
  • No dogs, following cycles, alcohol or tobacco allowed.
  • Race marshals and medical team members have the authority to disqualify and remove any runner they consider to be acting dangerously, or to be unfit to compete.
  • For safety reasons the organisers of the Chippenham Half Marathon discourage the use of music players whilst running in this event.
  • Runners are required to give assistance to fallen runners and to report any casualties immediately to the nearest first aid post or race marshal.
  • In the event of any dispute the decision of the Race Referee and Race Co-ordinator shall be final.
  • Team results will be based on cumulative times (not places). Open Teams - 4 to count for men's teams, 3 to count for ladies' teams. (Second claim rules apply).
